Information

Bedec Multi Surface Paint is a versatile, multi-surface, water based acrylic exterior paint offering excellent protection from cracking, flaking, blistering, rain, extreme weather, UV (sunlight), rot and algae. Use it on galvanised steel, plastic, concrete, brick, cladding and wood. Not for use on wood with water repellant preservatives applied.

It performs on many substrates around farms, garden factories and houses, eg barns, stables, outbuildings, sheds, gates and fences. It’s highly durable, with superb colour retention.

Bedec Multi Surface Paint can be applied to previously painted surfaces, even those coated with weathered bitumen, tar varnish or creosote, as long as there are no loose powdery deposits.

Excellent colour retention.

Multi-surface.

Acrylic water based.

NOTE: Mahogany, Jacobean Walnut, Medium Oak and Dark Oak are semi-transparent, semi-Matt wood stains that stain the wood, rather than paint it a solid colour.

Preparation

Make sure that surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and wax.

Remove all loose and defective paint.

Remove algae and fungus and treat with a fungicidal wash.

Lightly sand smooth Matty surfaces to provide a key.

Bare steel should be free from rust, scale and dust before applying Bedec water based All Metals Primer.

Pressure treated timber should be weathered for at least six months before painting.

Denatured wood – i.e wood that has been left to the elements and has been degraded as a result – should be abraded to reveal new cells.

New planed, finished wood or PSE wood should also be abraded to open the grain and allow maximum penetration.

On untreated weathered wood, new wood, cement, render, plaster, brick work or any porous substrate, thin the first coat with approx. 30% clean water.

New creosote should be allowed 3 months to weather.

You do not need to etch or prime galvanised steel. Allow new galvanised steel to weather for two months before painting.

Application

Note: always follow the manufacturer’s instructions found on the tin. Please test a small area prior to application to ensure you are happy with the adhesion and colour.

Apply with a brush, roller, conventional H.V.L.P or airless spray.

Stir well and do not apply at temperatures below 8°C or when it is likely to rain before the paint has fully dried.

Apply 2-3 coats to sealed surfaces, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly.

Do not over spread.

Note: Spraying will significantly reduce the coverage achieved, depending on the type of sprayer used.
